Guides in your language - clearer tax rules for UK drivers

By Alex Zmuda 3 min read

UK tax rules are hard enough when you drive for a living. Making Tax Digital, HMRC deadlines, Self Assessment, allowable expenses - the ideas matter more than perfect English. So we are publishing the content that explains those rules in the native languages of our drivers.

That work begins with our Guides: practical pages on MTD, accounting software, Uber and delivery tax, and how profit affects benefits. The product itself stays in English for now. The guides are where we want the barrier to drop first.

Next / planned

Rolling out in this order (taxi and private hire first, then delivery where it matters):

  1. Ukrainian (Українська) — next
  2. Russian (Русский) — planned
  3. Portuguese (Português) — planned (especially useful for delivery)
  4. Arabic (العربية) — planned
  5. Hindi (हिन्दी) — under consideration

You will see an Available languages switcher on translated pages (English · Polski · Română · اردو · বাংলা · ਪੰਜਾਬੀ today). On the Guides list, cards with other editions show the same choice.

Why we are doing this

A lot of taxi and private hire drivers in the UK think and talk about money in another language at home - then have to decode dense English when the rules get serious. That is a bad place to be when a quarterly update or a benefits figure depends on getting the idea right.

Publishing guides in those languages is a straightforward nod to those drivers: same facts, clearer reading. Official terms stay where they belong (MTD, HMRC, Self Assessment, amounts in £). The surrounding explanation is written so it actually sounds natural in that language - not a stiff word-for-word translate, and not half-English marketing copy.

We are rolling languages out carefully, one language at a time, for drivers - not as a machine dump of every page on the site. If your community needs one of the planned languages sooner, tell us and we will prioritise accordingly.

Upgrading to TaxiManager V2 V2 goes live 31 Jul at app.taximanager.co.uk. Until then use app.v1.
